Well I guess I'll be the first to take the plunge. I'm 54, male, and live on the East Coast. I read mostly non-fiction - biographies, current events, art and architecture. I'm hoping to participate in some interesting discussions and learn what other people are thinking and reading.

I'll follow the lead. I'm 25, male, and living in Exeter, in the west of England. Currently working on a doctorate on Webster's "The Duchess of Malfi", which is a great excuse to spend weeks grubbing around in odd nooks of theatre history. Generally write scripts and cultural criticism (if only there was a less pretentious or less vague term for that!) In fiction I read a fair amount of crime fiction and plays (particularly fond of Le Carre, Stoppard, and Ellroy) and in non-fiction politics and philosophy (just finished Christopher Hitchens' "biography" of The Rights of Man.) I'm likewise keen to hear what's being read and thought - CLR seems an excellent place to exchange views.

Hi, I'm 32, live in Ohio. I'm a history and military buff. Also enjoy reading and discussing politics. I lean to the right, probably closer to Libertarian than Republican. I look forward to joining in some interesting discussions.

Hi, I'm female, 46 and live in Portland, OR. I read most anything from history to Science Fiction. Not too keen on math or science, but if it's dumbed down enough, I can enjoy it. I've learned of some interesting book from CLR and decided to join in the discussion.

Hello there...I am a 28 year old female and I reside in PA! I am an elementary school teacher, therefore I try to keep myself abreast as to what my students read. For my own sanity I enjoy reading anything fiction, however tend to stay away from Sci-fi and math. However as deborah said, if it is "dumbed down enough" I will enjoy it. My current favorite author is Jodi Picoult and have my own personal library of her novels. As if reading wasn't enough I also enjoy audio-books on my daily commute to and from work. This is something I highly suggest if you have a long commute, although be mindful of your speeds, something I recenlty am not doing, as my speeding tickets are adding up...(I am just to into the story.) Happy reading!!!

Hi, I'm a middle aged female living in Illinois. I'm a huge science fiction fan - Neal Stephenson and Frank Herbert are two of my favorites. I'm hoping to find others who like to talk books.
