I have read the first book and found him to have a rare insight - he certainly has the ability to capture the essence of both suffering and noble moments- which is rare in the profession of someone claiming his surgical excellence is based on detachment - I have lived for 10 years in Mocambique and am now working back in SA -I would like to know if he ever comes back to SA

The Dressing Station inspired me to move beyond the Freedom Curtain of the US to practice medicine abroad. I am now an Emergency MD in Saudi Arabia. How do I get in touch with Mr. Kaplan? I would like to join him on his next mission. I have made a point in my life of meeting and talking with great people doing good things without a desire for recompense. I have talked with Christian Barnard, Barbra Apgar, Mike Broselow. They are living legends in Medicine. To work side by side with Mr. Kaplan, I would consider an honor.

Dr. Jonathan Kaplan has written two books, the other being The Dressing Station, providing graphic accounts of the horrorific violence associated with wars, human greed, terrible treatment of indigenous peoples by those, often foreigners, in control of their lives. We owe Kaplan a debt of gratitude for writing these books, and for his years as a surgeon working to alleviate some of the pain and suffering of innocent men, women and chldren trapped in the war zones.
If he has written a third book, please inform me.

Why is this in-correct term "Russian Mafia" being used ? Last year i read an article which mentioned 22 Russian mafia members had been arrested. Not long after it was published it was revealed Not a single member was Russian. The majority were infact Georgian. It is obvious that your editors are trying to make it sound like something from "the Godfather" or trying to put an Italian flavour to it like what we read about from the Mafia in New york or sicily. My point is, How do you expect your readers to take articles like this seriously ? we are not stupid. I would appreciate any input or any reasons you can provide me.
Regards.
