I've been a fan since her first EP, and I caught her with her old band opening for Chris Isaak in Santa Rosa. Having seen Janis Joplin and Grace Slick at the Fillmore and Winterland, I'd have to say that Nicole is does these rock icons one better with her powerful voice and nuanced songwriting. That the world hasn't discovered her yet is a mystery; that she hasn't bent to the will of the music industry is a miracle. Thanks for a great piece on Nicole Atkins.
