A very comprehensive review indeed. However the question is wouldn't it have been better if Peter Bridges had written a biography of Abraham Lincoln?

Peter Bridges mentions at the outset that the biography is in some ways disappointing, and, as he points out, discussion particularly of the diplomatic missions by a Roman Catholic archbishop, an Anglican bishop and a prominent business leader plainly should have been included, because documented. Nevertheless, despite the omissions Bridges lists, he makes me want to read the book. What a well written and enlightening review - thank you.
