not about race^

*from 'American Government' by Walter E. Volkomer (Hunter College, NY), Part 1 - Chapter 2 - pages 33-34:

"Support for the idea of legislative election of the president was strong, but many delegates to the Philadelphia convention were unwilling to accept this system. They were afraid that it would make the president a captive of the legislative branch. This problem was not resolved until the closing days of the convention and was one of the last major decisions made by the delegates. A specially appointed committee proposed an indirect system for selecting the president: an electoral college."

Brian Mann lives in Saranac Lake (a village located in the state of New York). As of the 2000 census, the population was 5,041. The racial makeup of the village was 96.87% White, 0.75% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 0.26% from other races, and 1.33% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.07% of the population.

A white guy from Saranac Lake talks about diversity? He says that he does not like redistribution. What about wealth redistribution? (aka- take my money and give it to a failed system)

You left out the most important reason for the Electoral College: it was a way to give slave states more votes based on their slave population: each slave counted as 3/5 of a person.
