It's the man's footprint, domestically, that's the problem.
He took what Woodrow Wilson fumbled, in the direction of an end zone, and got closer still.
The end zone? State Control of all that moves. It's well-intentioned to want to intervene where human suffering exists. But governmentally, on a National scale?
Government ends up paving a one-way road with all the good intentions. Destination? Hell.
One helps one's fellow man, quietly. With assistance appropriate to the individual in question. You buy the starving woman and children groceries, tide her over on rent, but for God's sake don't give the drunkard husband any money.

“Even-handed”. Sorry, no comparison. Today our culture wants more and more things, cars, toys, etc. I remember very clearly how my father changed when he was able to work for the WPA; he had been a master printer. All his life and that of my family was a life of making do with as little as possible, the best things in life are free.
However, I do see help for this country if programs such as WPA and CCC could be put into effect. What it would take is a leader, a real inspired leader who is not afraid of government involvement in repairing and restorint the intra-structure of this country. Someone like F.D.R. but I don't see anyone at this time coming even close. However, I'm always an optomist and you never know the potential people have.

I disagree with Linda Jones when she wrote, “take a snapshot of America today and it has a look of the 1930′s in it”. The difference is it took a war to bring America out of the Depression and today we're in a recession because of our wars -
In 2009 we have a great opportunity to be part of the next "New Deal" - American-Made should be required reading
at the White House -
Note - Elinor - please email me - Our company, Gilbert Art, will be doing a series of Art related charitable events to bring awareness of the WPA era - we're targeting schools, museums and retail venues so children and families can participate in the event - Linda Jones

Excellent Review – Nick Taylor’s book is so timely – take a a snapshot of America today and it has a look of the 1930′s in it

The difference is it took a war to bring America out of the Depression and today we’re in a recession because of our wars -

In 2009 we have a great opportunity to be part of the next “New Deal” – American-Made should be required reading<br
