Ferling's exhaustive research paints a comprehensive and dramatic picture of the extreme hardships the continental soldiers and the militia men suffered in the conduct of the war. The politics of the era, not so different from today, is unvarnished and the good and bad sides of the principals is examined in depth.
I hope that this book and others, such as David McCullouch's 1776 become required reading in high schools and colleges.

This book is a treasure trove of information about our war for independence.
