Words and phrases are twisted and broken. ' The religion of no religion' is again a mystical, subjective and esoteric creation. But there is no harm to it. Accepting spirituality and non believing in religion could itself be a confusing position and might have often been used as a stategy or a repressed expression of the mind. Why create an institute or an ashram to carry the human potential movement. It could as well become a religious or spiritual body like the marxist and communist citadels, that bumped off humanity in the name of workers' rights and liberty. All beginnings have a novel goal like christianity, islam, buddhism or communism but are finally left to cry before the citadels of state power. It might be true that we do create mental sufferings when there are no material sufferings. Please be careful for Esalen, as you might really carry something meaningful, if not always worthwhile.

If you are outside of Esalen's small box, you are not wanted for more than a week. Great group leaders once led groups at Esalen. Now, they refuse due to a required political way of thinking.
Rejecting Christians, jews, Muslims, and old people Esalen appeals to a tiny group. This is sad for me. It means I am not wanted. Christian sounds like shit to them.
The best service Esalen provides is a healing intermission to life for people who have had a miserable experience. Attenders can pause, gain strength, and return to their life.

Esalen has great grounds and great food. Intellectually Esalen is not open.
