Like a painting, its carefully-chosen title is the main theme and purpose for being. And the feeling of being unresolved and having shifting consciousnesses are apt responses for how we all feel after dark. While Murakami doesn't completely say what is to come of Eri's state, it is implied something big is going to change. As for one thing I was dissapointed in was the development between Takahashi and Mari. I expected something more, especially out of Takahashi. His determination only got him an adress. Although Murakami doesn't explicitly set forth what happens to the businessman, it's implied very well from the buildup in the book. I disliked the businessman more and more until the end, so I can imagine whatever just end for him that I wanted. I actually thought the ending was very satisfying.
