Hello,
I recently finished reading your book "The Last Chinese Chef" and want to tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I live in Raleigh, NC. However, I was born and raised in Portland. Your book reminded of the 'old times' when there were many Chinese wedding banquets. Unfortuately, that tradition has been lost. I still remember the banquets though.
I often visit Portland to attend the Portland Chinese Community reunion. Our friends took my sister and I to several restaurants. I certainly enjoyed the food. Here in NC one cannot find food such as we had.
I have one question: What Chinese restaurant in Portland would you recommend?
Thank you and thank you for your writings.

Read your article in the Washington Post- We're Still in Love with the Romance of the Past. I am married to a Chinese, lived in Taiwan and taught Occupational therapy at the university there, and have always been fascinated with things Chinese. Enjoy reading many of the authors you mention See, Ha Jin and Anchee Min. Also the films.
Will read The Last Chinese Chef. And look forward to your Historical Novel.
And Reichl is wonderful and also a good writer.
Nancy
Are you a frequent writer for the Washington Post?
