Ted Rall puts Central Asia on the map for alot of political journalists. The political importance woven into the book with regard to the War in Afghanistan, and white muslims is very relevant.

I have searched high and low for books on Central Asia. If you have the money you'll live like a king. If you don't then you are toast.

There are fantastic 5 star hotels in Uzbakistan. The trick is - and it is truly so - that there it all depends on the type of personality one possesses. People are very nice there and just as bad as anywhere else.

I find it very difficult to believe since both food and hospitality of that region is unsurapssable to say the least. Looks like the author deliberately chose the cheapest hotels and dining stops in order to save some bucks and get an "invaluable" inspiration for his "masterpiece".
Not everything is so horrible in Central Asia, whose leaders in the past ruled most of the world and saved the european ancestors of the author from being conquered by ottoman forces.

Mr. Rall seems not to have found anything more interesting to write about other than “digging in the dirty clothes” of the developing countries.<br
