Even though I am no admirer of the Vice President or indeed of any one in the administration, I find myself having to agree with Richardson. I expected a book ob bamboo fly rods. I did get that to a certain extend.

I also got a large dose of pontification, to the point where I could not quite shake the impression that the author couldn't resist the opportunity of using his book as a soapbox from which to proselytise for his political views. It quite spoiled the enjoyment for me.

hi there............ I live in MS and the water is too hot for trout or salmon. Ive been reading for many, many years about fly rod fishing for the trout and salmon. Charles Ritz. To Me he is the grand master. The life and time of a fly rod fisherman.... Before he created his company.... My body is broken down. I am blessed to get disabalitey. One time, I could cast or throw all the line from my reel..About 75 feet but I did have darcron backing which I could case about 85 feet on the grass in My back yard. The cast,,,,,,,, the fish... the rise. the sound. OK.... you know........and understand.

Ah, life is good... be it even if it is in the back of our minds and it has to be stirred out only occationally by simple beauty and pleasures.

Unfortunatly this author has to sully his book about bamboo fly rods by repeatedly trashing half the people in America along with the Vice President of the United States: shabby at best. Left wing partisan politics in a fly fishing book not only dates the work, but I am afraid it ruined this book.
